The Mareeba Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations from people interested in becoming a Committee Member for 2012. Throughout 2011 the Committee were committed to discussing the issues and topics of interest affecting our members and 2012 is set to continue with a number of initiatives already underway including our annual economic publication and forum, a combined Atherton and Mareeba Chamber Mining Forum, the creation of a website highlighting the benefits of living and basing your business in Mareeba, and the ongoing issue of transport for the region.

About us...
The Mareeba Chamber of Commerce is committed to business and community interests in Mareeba and surrounding districts. We provide a wide range of services to business including scheduling and co-ordination of a number of opportunities and events. These include monthly functions with key note speakers and an eBusiness Newsletter, networking, business seminars, annual business awards and our publication “An Economic Snapshot”.
Our chamber has in excess of 400 business colleagues on our current database and we are growing each month. The Mareeba Chamber of Commerce is a privately funded, membership based, not-for-profit organisation. With almost 160 members from various industries, the Chamber’s target audience has a keen interest in the local economy and meeting other business people.
Mareeba Shire covers an area of 53,457km² which stretches across the base of Cape York Peninsula. Mareeba, with a population of 20,000, is the main commercial and administrative centre and lies 64km south west of Cairns. It is the largest of the four recently amalgamated shires on the Atherton Tableland and consists of a number of smaller centres in the Shire including Kuranda, Dimbulah, Chillagoe, Mt Molloy, Mt Carbine and Irvinebank.
